Sujet: [pure-silver] Copying b&w 35mm negs w/bellows/slide copier
À: pure-silver@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Hi!
I'd like to make some b&w positives to project in 35mm. Any
help with choice of film/developer? I see this done and some are
better than others. Bracketing range, etc.? Best, Rich

Quite a long time ago, I put up a page on B/W slides, one option is copying an
existing negative:
http://www.bonavolta.ch/hobby/en/photo/slidesbw.htm#Negative
There is some loss of quality despite the use of a good macro lens (I used a
Micro-Nikkor lens + bellow + slide copier) but is not bad at all.
The problem is to find now a film with a sufficiently clear base as most of the
technical films have disappeared (Agfa Ortho 25, Technical Pan, ...).
In terms of development, you need quite an energic development.
The gamma of a slide must be high already with normal subjects but, as you
start from a negative with a low contrast, the contrast of the positive must be
even higher.
Maco seems (not tried personally) to have something that can be used:

Otherwise you can try other standard low speed films but they have a darker
base, typically the 100 iso T-grain films (Acros, TMX, Delta).
