Has anyone had a Manfrotto tripod head break?
The 1/4" steel shaft between the ball and the quick-connect of my
Manfrotto 486RC2 ball head just snapped. My camera was attached at
the time, but, luckily, when the shaft broke, my camera landed on
some soft earth and it seems ok.
Now, I'm afraid to buy a new Manfrotto head. So, before I consider
doing so, I'm wondering if this type of break has happened to anyone
else, or is it just a fluke? (All the manufacturer (Bogen Imaging)
tells me is that the head is no longer under warranty, and that I can
mail it to them for a repair estimate.)
