Re Ilford
Yes it is good to get some positive news in these dire times for B&W. Ilford
certainly seem to have very positive plans in the future. I spoke to one of
the directors recently, who outlined plans for some entirely new products
which will please many I think. They are also planning new lectures and
practical workshops on aspects of B&W printing soon. There seems to be a
good bit of energy and drive there.

I recently wrote Ilford for clarification of the ingredients of
Perceptol, which has two different MSDS. The answer is that the correct
ingredients include Sodium Chloride, not Sodium Bromide, as is listed in
some versions of the MSDS, this is being corrected. It is likely that
Perceptol and Kodak Microdol-X are either identical or very close.
I also want to copy a part of the last post from Ilford because it is a
hopeful message to those of us who work with silver based B&W.

Richard,
Thank you for your kind comments. I hope that we will be able to continue to
support the activities of dedicated black and white photography enthusiasts
like yourself for many years to come, since that is the declared objective
for this new business that has arisen following the collapse of the ILFORD
group. You may like to know that "we"
are the same
people who were employed by ILFORD, working out of the same premises, with
the same monochrome product range. HARMAN technology is the new business
name, but underneath little has changed. However, watch the press, and you
will soon see evidence of plenty of change. We will be introducing new
products and restoring old ones as we move to support the long neglected
mono market.
