Since the list is quiet I'll ask. I bought an auction lot last week. One of
the items is supposed to be a Honeywell flash. This is the thing. The battery
is/was supposedly 510 volts. I downloaded a manual for a similar model using
the same manual. Recharge was something like 2 seconds with the battery. 18
seconds plugged into the wall outlet -) I'm wondering just how common were
those mega batteries? I'm not intending to use the thing but I am curious.
That was an Eveready #497 carbon-zinc battery. I think there were several flashes that
used it. There were other high voltage batteries used in electronic flashes. The
Graflex Stroboflash used two 225 volt #489 batteries.
It was while poking around a disassembled Stroboflash on a repair bench that I learned
about the potential energy that could be stored in a capacitor....
