This is only for the "pocket," right?
we old PTR2 users have not this capability, right?

Thanks.

Hi Gary,

I'm not sure why you say this: I've found most Windows Media streams to work fine, including those BBC streams. WMA streams usually have the extension ASX, and those saved ASX files have mostly worked so far. There's one site where they don't work because the website does some fancy scripting that stops you saving the files, but that's a whole 'nother can of worms.

Best,

Peter

I don't think you are doing anything wrong. the pocket doesn't appear to work with Windows Media streams. that is to bad, for most stations stream in WMA format.

I think the plextalk folks will have to address this issue.

Hi Peter,

Apologies as I think I'm being really dense here.

I've sorted out the Radio Scotland side of things that you posted earlier
and am now trying to sort out Classic FM. The M3U link you sent works
perfectly when I use my computer as it just kicks into Windows Media Player,
but, if I use the Plextalk Transfer software to create a new web radio
station playlist, it doesn't appear to work. I must be missing an important
part of the process.

All the other ones seemed to go into a Save As option but this one just
starts the station playing.

Have you managed to get this one working and, if so, what method did you use
to create the necessary playlist on the Pocket?

I guess it will be really obvious but it is eluding me at the moment.

Thanks again,

Jamie

Hi again Jamie/All,

I came across a useful resource for finding UK and Irish stations,
though the website is not the easiest to navigate:
http://www.radiofeeds.co.uk/

Try this M3u for Classic FM gleaned from that site:
http://media-ice.musicradio.com/ClassicFMMP3.m3u

Peter

Hi Peter,

Thanks for this. I've now managed to get most of the numbered BBC
stations.
I say most because I've not yet got BBC 5 Live but I'm working on it!! I
also wanted to get Classic FM and Radio Scotland.

It would be really good if we could persuade Plextor to create an FTP
location where we could upload and download playlists that we know work -
what do others think?

Anyway, if anyone wants me to mail them the playlists for BBC 1, 2, 3, 4, 6
or 7, just give me a shout.

Jamie

Hi Jamie, and All,

If it's a Windows Media link, which the BBC stations are, then you
can't make a playlist file, because M3U and PLS playlist files must
point to MP3 files.

So, when you see a Windows Media Player link, you need to right-click
it, and save the actual ASX file.

If you have the URL, then one way to get the ASX file, which works
under Windows XP, is to set your folder options so that Windows asks
whether you want to download or open the file. Then, when you go to
that URL with Internet Explorer, you can save the ASX file, and then
copy it to the Plex Web Radio folder either with the Transfer
software or Win Explorer.

I don't know how to do this in Windows 7, short of actually changing
the ASX association to stop Media Player opening, so if anybody does
know, or has a more elegant way to get the ASX files, then please let us
know.

I'm also looking at how to get stations across from a mobile phone,
because there are good searches there.

I do agree that this could be more intuitive (smile), but it's worth
the trouble because the Pocket makes such a nice Internet Radio.

And yes, I am so happy about the time-jump features. One other thing
I like is the dedicated folder for audio books, which means that when
playing music you don't get unwanted non-music recordings.

The only feature I can think of now for the wish list is to read MP3 tags.

Best,

Peter
