Per, Thanks for the answer. I used to run version 1 of pskmail on another computer (also linux mint), but that machine is gone (donated to a good goal). On the current laptop I have only tried to run versions 2 of pskmail. But maybe the problem of UI not appearing in 2.1 is also because of an 2.0.30 version configuration.xml in ~/.pskmail ? The 2.0.30 UI is appearing fine and is working. Only the tranceiver is not toggled into transmit. I do presume however that jpskmail does not like the installled rxtx version (2.2-pre2), which is newer than the required 2.1.7, but apparently not better. I do not see a way to go back to rxtx 2.1.7 without disturbing the system configuration too much. Or there could be a problem with pskmail or something under it (rxtx probably, isn't that a library for communicating with serial ports ?) not finding /dev/ttyUSB0, but I have no idea yet on how to debug this ... It surely is the interface the modem is connected to, I see it appear in /var/log/messages when I plug in the modem. mvg, Jan Bruggeman Snoekstraat 79 9000 Gent gsm: +32 476 066 826 mail: jan@xxxxxxxxx web: http://www.aubine.be On August 18, 2014, Pär Crusefalk <per@xxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > Hi Jan, > > Unfortunately version 1 and 2 have conflicting configuration files that > are not removed by an uninstall. > This means that if you run version two, uninstall and later try version > one then the UI will not show up. > To fix this you need to uninstall what you have installed and manually > remove the file configuration.xml before you install anything. > > I would recommend using version one as fldigi is now much improved (but > do get the latest from the web) and does not crash all the time as it > used to. > > 73, Per > sm0rwo > > > Jan Bruggeman skrev 2014-08-17 17:58: > > All, > > > > The radio is repaired and holliday is over, so I'm back to trying > > pskmail. > > > > My setup: > > - radio ft 817, so no vox in digi mode. > > - simple modem from intermar (can't find it on their site anymore) > > in pskmail ptt is set to hardware ptt using rts pin, ptt port is set > > to /dev/ttyUSB0. > > - computer runs linux mint : > > cat /proc/version: > > Linux version 3.11.0-12-generic (buildd@allspice) (gcc version 4.8.1 > > (Ubuntu/Linaro 4.8.1-10ubuntu7) ) #19-Ubuntu SMP Wed Oct 9 16:20:46 > > UTC 2013 > > uname -a: > > Linux aubine 3.11.0-12-generic #19-Ubuntu SMP Wed Oct 9 16:20:46 UTC > > 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux > > java -version: > > java version "1.7.0_51" > > OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea 2.4.4) (7u51-2.4.4-0ubuntu0.13.10.1) > > OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 24.45-b08, mixed mode) > > installled rxtx version:2.2-pre2 > > > > 1) when starting pskmail 2.1 I get: > > java -jar /home/jan/pskmail21/javapskmail2.jar > > > > Stable Library > > ========================================= > > Native lib Version = RXTX-2.2pre2 > > Java lib Version = RXTX-2.1-7 > > WARNING: RXTX Version mismatch > > Jar version = RXTX-2.1-7 > > native lib Version = RXTX-2.2pre2 > > jPSKmail ends here... > > Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NullPointerException > > at javapskmail.Mainpskmailui.<init>(Mainpskmailui.java:994) > > at javapskmail.Main.main(Main.java:414) > > > > and UI does not show up ... > > > > 2) when starting pskmail 2.0.30 I get: > > java -jar /home/jan/pskmail21/javapskmail.jar > > configuration.xml > > Stable Library > > ========================================= > > Native lib Version = RXTX-2.2pre2 > > Java lib Version = RXTX-2.1-7 > > WARNING: RXTX Version mismatch > > Jar version = RXTX-2.1-7 > > native lib Version = RXTX-2.2pre2 > > > > > > But I do get into UI and I can receive signal.
