I will start SA6BQZ-1 in one houre and you can test if you can hear it. For the moment I can run it beacuse I don´t need to use the controlsystem for the waterpipes, its plus 4deg!! //gunnar _____ From: pskmail-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:pskmail-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Tarmo Huttunen Sent: Friday, December 28, 2012 3:12 PM To: pskmail@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [pskmail] Re: Raspberry Pi and Pskmail Client by the way i have 256mb version ...131/184mb used now without xastir, (without cache, with cache about 172/184) 2012/12/28 Gunnar Bulukin <gunnar@xxxxxxxxxx> Nice!!! Now we are hoping that there will be a Pi ver C with 1024!! Lets hope that will come soon. //gunnar _____ From: pskmail-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:pskmail-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Tarmo Huttunen Sent: Friday, December 28, 2012 2:23 PM To: pskmail@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [pskmail] Re: Raspberry Pi and Pskmail Client So far I have tested it via audio between raspberry and android phone(andpskmail) Jpskmail+fldigi+Raspberry obviously can beacon, I tried on thor22 mode. Also receiving seems to work. Cpu load is high...higher if fldigi is on visible workplace. One odd think I noticed: Receiving mostly work when waterfall is in fast mode, but fldigi do not work(decode properly) if waterfall is either paused, slow or normal mode. I tried that several times, it seems not to be coincidence. Next I will let it trying receive true hf beacons and also try with xastir... Tarmo 2012/12/27 Gunnar Bulukin <gunnar@xxxxxxxxxx> Good luck again!! Please give some feedback if you can beacon with it via your rig!! //gunnar _____ From: pskmail-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:pskmail-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Tarmo Huttunen Sent: Thursday, December 27, 2012 10:09 PM To: pskmail@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [pskmail] Re: Raspberry Pi and Pskmail Client Thanks again Gunnar, jpskmail started now on raspberry... 73, Tarmo OH6ECF 2012/12/27 Gunnar Bulukin <gunnar@xxxxxxxxxx> It was the 1.5.10 only that you should download and unzip! You are trying to unzip an installationfile. For Pi use this link. http://www.crusefalk.se/jpskmailinstall/jpskmail-1.5.10.zip For Ubuntu use the installationfile and make it executible and the install by moving to the upacked lib and start the installation with ./INSTALL. Good luck! //g _____ From: pskmail-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:pskmail-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Tarmo Huttunen Sent: Thursday, December 27, 2012 8:36 PM To: pskmail@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [pskmail] Re: Raspberry Pi and Pskmail Client Eh...I get this from terminal when I try to unzip: root@raspberrypi:/home/pi# unzip jPSKmail-1.5.10-Linux-x86-Install Archive: jPSKmail-1.5.10-Linux-x86-Install End-of-central-directory signature not found. In the latter case the central directory and zipfile comment will be found on the last disk(s) of this archive. note: jPSKmail-1.5.10-Linux-x86-Install may be a plain executable, not an archive unzip: cannot find zipfile directory in one of jPSKmail-1.5.10-Linux-x86-Install or jPSKmail-1.5.10-Linux-x86-Install.zip, and cannot find jPSKmail-1.5.10-Linux-x86-Install.ZIP, period. So what now :D I have a feeling that my file is not same as yours, Gunnar :D 2012/12/27 Tarmo Huttunen <tarmopaha@xxxxxxxxx> I have not unpacked that file! :D I feel stupid again :D Tarmo 2012/12/27 Gunnar Bulukin <gunnar@xxxxxxxxxx> Short memory!! You have to unzip the file 1.5.10 first ;-) //g _____ From: pskmail-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:pskmail-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Gunnar Bulukin Sent: Thursday, December 27, 2012 12:45 PM To: pskmail@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [pskmail] Re: Raspberry Pi and Pskmail Client Btw, you have to start fldigi first!!! //gunnar _____ From: pskmail-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:pskmail-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Gunnar Bulukin Sent: Thursday, December 27, 2012 12:43 PM To: pskmail@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [pskmail] Re: Raspberry Pi and Pskmail Client Tarmo, You should not execute the file. 1. Go into the 1.5.10 and set the jar file under permissions to executible. 2. Do the same thing to the files under Lib 3. open the jar file under 1.51.10 and wait, takes around 2 minutes to start. (But audio receive quality is still a bit poor) Gunnar, By the way... maybe it is my bat english but I am little confused about your instruction. I have download 1.5.10 From http://www.crusefalk.se/jpskmailinstall/ But it is executable file, when I try to execute it, pi gets busy for a while but nothing seems to happend. If I try executing from root terminal, it says "binary file cannot be executed"... so I cant find any "jpskmail lib" so I can not open javapskmail.jar :D I feel stupid :D Should this installer be runnable and make some directory containing those javapskmail.jar etc. ? (I have made permission to run this file.) This is what I meant, I can not find 1.5.10 jar files. I can see previous version I have tried while ago have been jpskmail installer 1.6.10, it do exactly same, nothing:) Tarmo, OH6ECF 2012/12/27 Larry Levesque <ka1vgm@xxxxxxxxx> I suspect it is a power issue. Try plugging a powered usb hub into the PI and the sound card into that. The recommended power supply is at least 1amp for the Pi but it only supports powering a level less than that for devices. Other people with similar problems have cured it by replacing the power supply or using the powered usb hub. Maybe because I didn't find 1.5.10 jar files :D So I tried 2.0.22. Suppose I just make something wrong... I have noticed about pi and fldigi, I cannot get WEFAX received as well as with ordinary laptop, with same usb soundcard (cheap dongle). Picture is not as good. I think "slant" is not stable when using raspberry pi. But it somewhat works, fun! Also tried receiving NAVTEX, it works also. I have received quite a lot of 518 khz NAVTEX from Mediterranean Sea here in inner Finland with pi. I suppose it is some issue on usb in pi, not sure. (could also be something simple like dirty power or ground loop...) Also soundcard gets grazy quite often when used with pi, and gets only fuzzy gibberish on waterwall. By the way, It have never worked if I also have network connected, wifi or ethernet. That is why I mostly susbect usb driver problem. Tarmo OH6ECF 2012/12/25 Gunnar Bulukin <gunnar@xxxxxxxxxx> Hi, Have tested with Pskmail client 1.5.10 and fldigi on Pi B (512). So far it works but CPU is 90%. Will test together with the IC-7200 when i have some more time. How to test: From http://www.crusefalk.se/jpskmailinstall/ Follow instruktions for Ubuntu to install fldigi and download 1.5.10 make jar files allowed to be executed even those in the LIB (don´t know if that is a must) After starting fldigi go to the jpskmail lib and open javapskmail.jar, it will take some time to start!! It would me very nice if anyone that has a working rig and a Pi close by could do some test and see if it works!! 73 de Gunnar
