Just as an observer, I would say switching down in bandwidth because of band condx is OK but switching up is definitely not unless you are certain the new bandwidth isn't in the way of anyonee...that is one the bad behaviors pactor III has.

Does that seem reasonable?

Has anyone looked at allowing the PSKmail clients and
servers to adjust bandwidth by switching mode, PSK31 through PSK250, based on
 propagation?

Yes, actually PI4TUE and SM0RWO are using PSK125 in minute 0, and PSK250 in minutes 1,2,3 and 4, to allow 'DX' contacts. This is experimental. From Spain, I was always able to connect using PSK250,
but I found it a bit easier with PSK125 when conditions were worse.

So yes, it is possible if the server is scanning.

We have chosen not to mode-switch automatically, but it will be possible to
* change mode manually during a connect (now already possible).
* change to a free frequency manually during connect.
This is going to be a manual operation, as we don't want the servers to start sending on
top of a QSO (human-controlled).
