There is no specific reason other than that the install scripts are written for
a Debian based system (apt-get). When you want to use another flavor you have to
install everything manually, which many people find a fairly tedious job.

I have stopped supporting other systems because of the time input required.
But you may become a 'champion' yourself for a certain system and write
the scripts to support it. We will be glad to host them centrally.
