Thanks to all that responded. At this point, I wasn't planning to increase the memory on the PC, so I would definitely appreciate it if a smaller "footprint" for the Linux O/S could be bundled with PSKmail. I'm assuming a number of hams are likely in this same category, based on having older PCs (Or maybe I'm just too cheap!!! :-) ) tnx es 73 Bruce- w3nj In a message dated 1/22/2007 20:34:29 Central Standard Time, W3NJ writes: > Hello, > I checked the archives and didn't see this adressed: > > I have the latest (January) PSKMail live CD which starts to boot on my PC > (1+GHz Pentium + 128MB memory) > > The front end of the boot process doesn't have any error messages that I > saw. Hello, I checked the archives and didn't see this adressed: I have the latest (January) PSKMail live CD which starts to boot on my PC (1+GHz Pentium + 128MB memory) The front end of the boot process doesn't have any error messages that I saw. However, I get a long delay when this line starts: - mounting loop image on /initrd/loopfs - Then the following error messages pop up: ============================ failed:invalid argument commands were: losetup /dev/loop0 initrd/cdrom/livecd.sqfs mount -r -t squashfs /dev/loop0 initrd/loopfs drop to limited shell ========================== I'm not overly Linux savvy, so all help is appreciated. I have successfully run the Live CD (Knoppix) from AI9NL (Harv's Hamshack) on the computer. tnx es 73 Bruce
