Xubuntu uses xfce, I personally would prefer icewm.....
I did not care for the new xfce file manager, plus I found it not very user
freindly for a non-linux person.
I looked at puppy linux, I see it has an option to save your settings
I have had no problems with the latest livecd on either the Dell Latitude
laptop or the work horse IBM A20 laptop. But this is with 512 and 310 for ram.
