Roger, I have not calibrated the Signalinks. I'm not exactly sure how to do that. Can you point me to a link? I will look as well.
Rein, I looked at Google Maps to see if I could load everything up and run over for a visit. But, Google can't give me directions from Atlanta, GA to Spain. I hope you're enjoying your RV-time. I'm looking forward to some of that myself in the near future.
I'm using FM. I will try setting the client to PSK250R and PSK125R. Do I need to do the same on the server? I tried doing that by editing freqs.txt, but I get errors when I change that file. I'm obviously don't understand what I'm doing with that file.

On both the client and server I have Misc/Pskmail set to 1000Hz Carrier frequency, 10Hz Search Range, 9dB Acq S/N, 10Hz AFC range, and Reset to Carrier and Report ARQ are both checked. Should TxID, RxID, or AFC be enabled in fldigi?
Both Signalinks are set up with Tx about 8 o'clock and Rx at 12 o'clock.
Following output from the pskmail server while it is doing this. At this point it attempted to send an email and failed with a "wrong password" message and then successful sent that message with no changes to anything.

The second question is important for the modes you are going to use.
On an FM link you should not have to use slow modes, I would try to limit the modes
to PSK500 and PSKR500. You can set the mode table on the client, and using 2 modes is
OK when you use FM.
There could be a timing propblem with PTT on one of the rigs.
You can check if the problem is audio related by looking at the raw packets in fldigi.
Do they show errors? Are all <SOH> and <EOT> characters being received OK?
There is a description on the nuts and bolts of the protocol in the
manual (appendices A and B).
The audio levels can be set also by looking at the small sign near the AFC button in fldigi.
The level is OK when the indicator is green all the time.
Pse supply some more information, so we can try to help....
On the side, pse use the email account you used to subscribe, otherwise
the list moderators have to manually set the allowance for every mail...

Hello to everyone on the list! I'm hoping this message actually makes it to the list. I'm having trouble sending to the list from my primary email account, and the first two attempts have failed.
I am attempting to set up a pskmail server in the Atlanta, Georgia area for folks in the local area to use on VHF. I have a test environment set up in my home, with two low power radios and antennas about 80 feet apart. I have followed the instructions in the documentation for both the client and server (I think), and I have also tried suggestions that I have found on the mailing list.
I am able to connect from client to server. I can send an update to the user database on the server. I have successfully sent outbound mail. I have also downloaded mail headers from my POP account. I have sent messages with PSK500R, PSK250R, and PSK125R. Prior to sending messages inbound and outbound I successfully tested sending and retrieving mail from the shell on the Ubuntu box using telnet.
Beyond that I'm not having much luck. I don't seem to have a stable environment. After a connection and a successful message or so the connections starts cycling through the modes as if it is trying to establish a more reliable connection. And, will occasionally see "wrong password" messages on the server. Many times I end up in a condition where I can connect but cannot send mail. It seems to just continuously search for a mode and then disconnect.
I'm wondering if the audio levels aren't set correctly on my two Signalinks, and that is causing it to miss parts of the messages. But, I'm confused as to whether or not that is actually true or how to determine the proper levels for both server and client if that is the case.
I also wonder if I could have it configured as if it is scanning (I’m using the default freqs.txt file with the current stable release). Is it possible to set it to a mode and have it only try that mode (or is that a bad thing)?
I apologize if I'm being so vague that it will be hard to resolve this without more information, but I'm just sort of looking for help in starting to troubleshoot this. I would appreciate any help anyone can give to help get over this hump
