Hi,

here are a few things I stumbled across during my installation process. I am
sending
it since it might be handy in case someone updates the documentation in the
future;
I was able to sort the problems out in the mean time, so no help at this
point needed
any more, just for the records (and Google :-)).

Firstly, I should say that I am not the kind of person who
reads everything before starting: I read documentation "on demand", hi.

- I was not clear if fldigi-1.3.tar.gz in the PSKMail installation archive
was a modified fldigi-Version, or if the version from
www.w1hkj.com/Fldigi.html
would also work (which is the case).

- http://pskmail.wikispaces.com/Client seems a bit outdated; e.g. I can't
find the
pskmailrc.pl file (is it now .pskmailconf?)
It also took me a while to figure out what/how to install with Gentoo: I
short
list of requ'red software (before the Linux Distrib.-specific
Instructions) would
  be handy.

- First, PSKmail and fldigi did not communicate due to preceeding $-signs in
the filenames in
Edit-> configuration; filenames also puzzled me since i was using fldigi
not gMFSK...

Then I found http://www.w1hkj.com/ChangeLog.html which says
         The control files are:
             PSKmailserver
             PSKmailclient
In the $HOME/pskmail.files directory the data files are:
             pskmail_out (formerly gmfsk_autofile)
             mail-io.log (formerly gMFSK.log)
How about moving the files to this directory to make things consistent?

- http://pskmail.wikispaces.com/Quick+start: Lon format seems to be wrong
(no preceeding 0's
  in Logitude.

- http://www.pskmail.org/: I wondered what the account is good for... I
browsed the Wiki for a while until
I found an explanation on http://pskmail.wikispaces.com/database.

Finally, some information on my setup:
- Fujitsu-Siemens P7010 Laptop running Gentoo
- IC7000 & Microham USB-Interface II (Rig control with Hamblib took me
a while, initially it was PTT-ing all the time...).
Still tbd: automatically initialize the Soundcard at boot time .
