Hi all, I just got back home from Cyprus. I brought my FT-817, a 4 meter wire antenna and my laptop so I wanted to try some PSKmail from there. I did some predictions before I went there and they all Indicated that it would be close to impossible to make it work. 3-5 watts and a tiny wire antenna was just not good enough. I decided to try anyway ;-) Here is a picture of the fantastic antenna ;-) Needless to say the antenna QTH really was very bad. To make matters worse I was in the middle of the commercial harbour with lots of machinery and ships creating a heavy QRM cloud. Here is a picture of me, the laptop and rig within the tent: So, the result? I was able to send my position and got QSL (not every time but...). I also managed to connect to my server at home in Stockholm using 3 watts ! Here is a picture of the QTH, from findu at: http://www.findu.com/cgi-bin/find.cgi?call=sm0rwo-1 So, 3 watts and 2950 km distance makes 983 km per watt ! Pretty good :-) 73 de Per, sm0rwo
