Thanks for the reply Rein,
I have entered a password in the preferences, edit, user data screen, is this
the correct place to enter the password ?, I then pressed the update server in
the email settings tab, but still get the message No server public key.
Just wonder if you can advise what I may be doing wrong ?
Do I need to make the changes in the configuration and restart the program for
them to be saved?
Thanks for your help
Vic

Vic,

the pskmail server needs your POP3 data + a session key.

The session password has been introduced for security reasons.

As the server caches your POP3 record, it was possible for somebody

to get your mail using your CALL.

When you set a session password this is not possible anymore.

The server generates a challenge on the basis of your session password.

With this random challenge your client generates an answer, which is different

for every session... If the answer is wrong, the server refuses to download

the mail.

Even when somebody sends a new record to the server using your CALL,

your data is secure, as the server needs both the session password and

the POP3 password. We use a diffie-hellman algorithm for this type

of authorization (google is your friend)...

Both passwords are sent to the server when you update the record...

Hope this helps,

Hi,

can anyone tell me what this message means when it refers to the public key ?

Am I missing something ?

The pop details that work on my portable device, don't seem to be accepted by
any servers as correct so far.

I am using fldigi 3.21.76 jpskmail 1.5.26

Thanks for any help
