"...on both the Vista and the Windows 7 machines they will not open". and "sudo ./jPSKmail-1.5.10-Linux-x86-Install" Are you dual booting ubuntu with windows 7 and vista? So the problem is ubuntu and neither windows 7 nor vista? If ubuntu is the problem then try the zip file instead.
