If you haven't approached Florida State Legislator Bill Heller (D-St.
Petersburg) you really should. He was chairman of the department of
rehabilitation science at USF for years and was elected with a very solid
margin in 2006. Not only does he support our issue, he understands it on a
really deep level. He's a real nice guy too.

 get it through. It's work and a shame to have to go through the effort;
but, it's worth it. Once this is dHi Chris,

That was quite a good overview/background on 508. In my investigation, I
determined that each state is fighting the same battle independently and in
different ways. It's a shame because each state has different power
structures, state agencies and politicians to deal with. One webinar I
participated in was the Illinois experience. To make a long story short, it
took a local NFB chapter to get the support of their local legislator to
eventually effect the new" 508" law. That is the approach myself and our
local Florida chapter are taking. My opinion, I don't believe, in Florida,
that there will be any strong opposition. We just have to get it into the
process with the support of a few legislators. Then push to get it passed.
Then we're going to the state department of education and recommend some
real changes in how information technology is taught to the disabled in K-12
schools. This is where the changes need to be made for the future.

Note that private companies that have nothing to do with the government
have
nothing to fear if they are a private company and Aare selling to the
government tools that will be used on the job in the government then they
are affected only if that software will be used by a person with a
disability because if a person doesn't complain they will not be hunted.
They should be forced by this law to convert even if no one complains but
that is not the way the real world works.

Agreed but I was asking how it works in the real world and not what is it
in
theory, cinse I really want to know if it is being applied and if law
swites
are being applied against private companies based on section 508 or on
whatever other law if for example their websites are not accessible.
