Hi, In my humble opinion, any such comments should be made privately. And they should be made constructively. Hello: I do not hold anything against Katherine. I'm sure she's a decent person. My replies and the occasional one from others on list comes from the misguided information. She frequently gives information on frameworks she's never developed on, but plans to if she could only get it to work, etc. I think the fact that Katherine wants to learn is awesome. We all have to start somewhere. But misguided information does not do anything but... misguide. As a result, some people might learn from the bad information, while others will just be misguided. I've tutored people with programming languages in the past. It is harder to unlearn something and learn it right, than it is to learn the same subject 3 times over. This applies to mostly everything. I do not want to see bad information tossed out here as though it doesn't matter, because there are people that can and will be mislead. Now, if Katherine were to have experience with the topic she is talking about (and not just the urge to learn this at some point in the distant future), that would be a lot better because she could use her knowledge of the topic to give people advice and help them. The comments made on list were not to shoot her down, nor to make her feel bad, but to try to decrease the amount of misguided information that is sent to the list, in the hopes of keeping people who need this information on track.
