I began to get into this language myself not so long ago, having used cold
fusion for most of my programming before. I started out with the tutorial
over at w3schools, yes it is basic, but it got me started and from there
I've taken it on my own to do more. I installed the latest version of php,
5.3.0, the non thread vc9 version, as I am using it with IIS7.5. If you will
use it with apache then get the vc6 version...I'm still looking for a good
book or 2 on the topic, will let you know if I come across anything; please
do likewise if you find one yourself... It is a good language, I'm using it
with my ajax pages, much lighter to maintain and write than perhaps cf...

Subject: learning PHP

Hello,

I have a very vast programming background in Microsoft based technologies
and want to spread out a bit and learn PHP. Can anyone suggest resources on
learning it and what tools to install on Windows to create a good
environment to work with when learning? I also have a host that I can play
with as well. Which version of PHP would you suggest, the latest?

Jeff
