jaws and issues with reading text

Hello all,
I sent my laptop back a while back, and wanted to get some coding done on a 
project. I'm using WINSCP to save to the linux system, so that's not much of a 
problem. the issue currently is trying to get jaws to read. It will read some 
of the lines just fine, but others are shown as "blank," arrows sometimes reads 
the blanks, but it's rare, arrows also omit letters. I'm using jaws 8, and have 
set the resolution to 1024x768. Perhaps someone has a solution for this? I'd 
really like to be able to code, seems this is the only thing holding me up 
until I get the laptop back.
