Not to mention like it or not you will deal with Vista might as well get
used to it now.  Windows 7 is just vista on the finished side and now Paint
even has those wonderful ribbon menus we all love so much (NOT!)

Yeah, but if you don't want to deal with Vista (and you shouldn't) you need 
to ensure that the XP drivers exist for whatever machine you end up buying.
