I agree with you 100 percent. to be a programmer means to be a developer as
well and if you can't learn by doing research with things such as google
then maybe programming isn't for you.

I have to agree in part. The first rule of being a programmer is developing
the ability to work out problems for ourselves, because usually what we are
doing has not been done before. In the case of the google comment, google
is one of those resources that is a must for a programmer be they veteran or
beginner. Being able to look up the information on a search engine is
probably the most important thing to learn because you will also discover
there is much more out there than you can even imagine. There have been 2
posts to this list today that have really perplexed me because it showed 2
things. Either the persons did not bother to look it up on their own, or
they did not understand how to use the basic tools available to every
computer user be they programmer or not. Part of understanding programming
is understanding how the computer works, and how to problem solve for things
on your own, because there will be many times when you are the only one that
can do it. I sent a response in the hopes that the person would be able to
find it on google just the same as anyone else on this list would have had
to. A bit more explanitory answer to the question of does anyone have a
direct link to the program in question that they can post? I think the
answer is no, and here is why, which I also explained in an earlier post.
Microsoft does not post direct links because they need information about
your computer first so that the software will work with your machine. So,
what they do is once you answer their questions there will be a download
button that will start the download. That is why there can't be a direct
link posted to the list.
