Jackie -- that is what I thought I did -- I am in the event viewer in the 
system log.  Should I select something other than system? I don't care about 
the other entries, or should I?
I'll try going up a level and perhaps i will find the option I need.

Go to control panel > administrative tools > event viewer & press enter.

At this point you're in a treeview. Tab once to the list of logs, pick
out the logfile, right click it (applications key) & select the save
log file as option.
