I googled for the windows download for emacs and found the source and one
site where you could download just the executables.
Since all I wanted to do was try using it rather than build it from scratch
I opted to use this site, but the instructions led me to an interesting bit
of craziness.
The web page said to download and install the files *exactly* as instructed
in the email. So I did.
I downloaded the relevant zip for xp, and proceeded to unzip it. But in the
end I found myself thrashing in the same loop over and over, downloading and
replacing the same files.
I finally tried to x out of the loop and found myself in emacs, and my hard
drive almost full.
I don't know how to use emacs, so exited emacs.
Just a warning. I don't know if I can trust this site. I looked into the
subfolders and it looks legit, but I have never experienced the infinite
loop extracting from a zip, and I have never landed in an executable that I
wasn't in before after extracting from a zip.
Now do I dare use this program?
Just passing it along.
