are you burning as a data DVD? and no you don't format or erase it, it gets
formatted when it burns, the only thing that gets "formatted" independently
is re-writable's of either sort.
another thing to try is another DVD that you have not used before. sometimes
they just don't work.
the third note, I'm using Nero for my burning, but when I go to do an iso, I
go to the file itself, and enter on it, if that does not invoke a response,
then I close out the windows "find the appropriate software" dialog that
opens up, and use the open with" command and guide it to my Nero
application, I checked the "always use" check box, and now iso's go
automatically where I want them to, and Nero automatically goes into the
"burn this" mode of operation with the file.
one final thing, I have also used the "open" option in my computer/windows
explorer and had it go into select and burn mode.

Subject: bpburning a dvd with Roxio
Hi all --
I downloaded the ISO image of VS2008 express version and need to burn it
onto a dvd. I have Roxio on my system and have been trying to burn the
image, but no matter what I do, Roxio ejects the disk and puts me back
where
I started.
Yes the dvd is not upside down.
Yes I read the little tutorial and help file.
Question: do I need to format the dvd before burning? Even when I try to
erase the dvd it ejects immediately.
I know the burning couldn't have taken place that fast. I'm just not
doing
something right.
Another question: could it be I don't have a DVR but just a cdrw? How
would
I check?
I'm almost sure it's a DVR as this is the most recent laptop I have
purchased and it seems I got a DVR.
Believe it or not I have never messed with burning disks before so I'm
playing catchup in this type of thing.
Ideas welcome.
TIA for any info.
