Yes, .net 2.0 looks like the best choice, but how good are the chances that users may already have it? Also what about .net1.1? Should .net1.1 be completely out of my concideration? Is there any value for the thought that since .net1.1 is one of the oldest framework version it is likely that most users may already have it?

My personal choice is .net 2.0 though.

Also can .net3.X will be able to run .net 2.0 apps or it is necessary to have .net2.0 installed.

Thanks,
Niran

It would mostly depend on what OS you are developing for. For XP .net 2.0 is probably the most widely used. For Vista either .net 3.0 or 3.5. ----- Original Message ----- From: "public.niran" <public.niran@xxxxxxxxx>

Hi,
Does anyone here have any idea about which .net framework version is most widely installed? Does targetting a specific .net version improves the chanse that users may not need to download and install the .net runtime.

Any thoughts are welcome.
