Hi, OK, sorry for the delay.

Well the live cd allows you to try out linux and have a play with it almost like it was installed from one cd. When you are playing with the livecd it doesn't install anything to your computer.
So you could try out apt, brltty, orca, firefox, openoffice etc.

Then when you feel confident with it and think you like it you install it to a partition on your disk.
