Correction: the options are under the ToolMenu, I think I said the View Menu. Also, depending on what language you are working in, which editor, tthere are diferent optional settings. Under the CSharp language I see there is a open in outline mode that is checked. I do not work in CSharp, too many curlly braces, but if you are opening a file and the lines seem to be gone they may be collapsed as Jeff mentioned. I don't use collapsing of code blocks but that is the only thing I could see off hand with a quick look at the settings. Read up on the Collapsing and Expansion of code blocks. If a block is collapsed I think there would be an indication like some word, or words, at the beginning of the block with some indicator it is a collapsed block. Perhaps an elipsis (...) might be displayed next to the words at the point where you think the code is getting deleted. Try toggling outline mode off and on to see if your code appears.

Hmmm. I am not running 2008 here but have you looked in the view menu to see if you can turn code folding or outlining mode off? Perhaps the lines are not really gone but just hidden from view? ----- Original Message ----- From: "DaShiell, Jude T. CIV NAVAIR 1490, 1, 26" <jude.dashiell@xxxxxxxx>

What do I need to change so visual studio 2008 doesn't delete lines of
code I haven't specifically told it to delete? It seems if I'm on any
part of a program and let the cursor stay still on that particular spot
in time and not much time I notice lines of code that were near the
cursor are now missing. I can do better with emacs.
Unfortunately we don't run Linux at work and emacs isn't an N.M.C.I.
approved package.
