I think the iso is burnt correctly since he said the live cd loads, but
there is no sound.
So:
speaker-test
from a terminal
That should play a sound.
Then if that works do alt+f2 and type orca
(In the gnome desktop)
Or you could do it at boot:
Select language, press enter on your language,
wait 5 seconds, hit f5 hit down arrow 3 times and enter twice.
Then it should come up talking.
