Yeah, that's totally valid, Matthew.  I'm actually concerned that this project 
will turn out to be just another list serve, in which case, It probably 
wouldn't survive.  And if it did survive, it would be really boring and tedious 
to moderate.

I guess I need to be really careful to set the right tone from the beginning.  
Whereas list serves focus on specialized topics, social networks are more about 
the individual users' personal lives:  keeping up with new and old friends, 
making plans with other people, finding similar people who live in your area, 
etc.  In this way, I think that it could be particularly beneficial for blind 
users since networking is more important for us.

So, I need to think of things that really bring out this distinction.  Maybe 
new ways of interaction, or something that will encourage people to interact 
rather than separate into smaller groups.

Anyway, I definitely appreciate your constructive criticism.  It was very
