I'd suggest receiving an unknown spreadsheet as an attachment to an email
and finding certain important items on it as quickly as possible.

hey Jamal how about time to set up a simple spread sheet from scratch on 
each system?
give them the criteria that must be listed, and info that must be added to 
the sheet and let them compete on who can create the thing faster.
