Thanks for your ideas, Octavian. Regarding using any software available for that operating system, I see your point and can raise the issue again with the presenters. The consensus has been that the types of tasks common to such an event should generally be possible with programs distributed with the operating system, so that was the most level playing field and suitable way of informing the audience about the accessibility of applications that would typically be available on that operating system. Because Windows has a different model with the screen reader component, the others agreed for JAWS to be an added component.
