The best ssh client for windows I have seen is the cygwin one. There's
a version on sourceforge that contains only the ssh client, the ssh
server and the scp utilities, packed with all needed dlls. It is, from
what I recall, about 6, 7 megs and integrates perfectly with the dos
prompt, you enter the dos prompt and ssh and scp are available in the
command line. Jaws gives great feedback on what is going on and using
pico for example works like a charm .. check openssh for windows and
on a search site and you will probably find the link in the top
results.
This is not to say that the git one is worse or better, it's just to
add another option.

When you say "I wrote a program that crashed Windows," people just
stare at you blankly and say "Hey, I got those with the system, for
free."
