Thanks for all the suggestions. This is a difficult one. Tech support tried
remoting with a windows 7 machine with the JAWS 40 minut trial version and said
it worked fine. The only difference we can think of is my home computer is
windows 7 home version and my work computer and the computer they tested with
are Windows 7 professional.

Hi,
I have no idea if this is helpful, but an FS tech support person once told me
that JAWS uses four virtual channels.

I really don't know what it would be at this point either.

If Tech Support (like you mentioned) can remote into your work computer from
their own computer, then it is probably JAWS related.

I never came across such a problem, other than trying to remote into a virtual
box, and there were not enough resources assigned to virtual. So it would
usually crash shortly after I logged in. But once I asked for more resource
allowance on the virtual, everything was fine. Other co-workers had no problem,
but since I was running JAWS both on my client, and on the virtual, JAWS took
up quite a bit more resources.

Hi Brent,
I'm sorry to say that I'm stumpped at this point. If you were me, you'd call FS
Tech Support armed with as much info as possible about the two machines,
especially your home one. Sounds like the problem must be with it.

I have both client and server remote checked on both my home computer and work
computer. This worked when I had my XP machine at work but do I need to change
this with Windows 7? You are correct I want to use my home computer to access
my work computer. Tech support tried other Windows 7 computers without JAWS
using my Cisco vpn and did not have any problems. It gets right to the point
where I would type my password then crashes my work computer with the blue
screen. My work computer then comes back to the place where it was so it does
not stay down very long. Do I need to uncheck server or client on one or both
of the computers?

Thanks for helping with this problem.

Hi Brent,
Make sure the client box is checked at home. That's the one you want to use to
get the info from work with, right? I mean you want to sit at home and type
while the info comes from work.

I think the server setting was checked. Do I need to uninstall and reinstall
jaws or can I just uncheck it? Do I need to do this on my work computer or
home computer or both.

Thanks for the help.

Jim is right to double check that server is checked off during the install of
JAWS. By default, server is checked, client is not.
Since it sounds like your work computer is the new computer, then you want
server checked at least.

I would then verify that someone (not running JAWS) could remote into the box.
Of course you want that person to be on a Windows 7 box as well,. If that
person has problems, then you know it is not a JAWS issue.

Good luck.

Hi,
Stupid Jim question, but do you have all of the remote stuff on? One time I
forgot to check the remote client box and wondered why it wasn't working.

I have the remote JAWS program so I can work from home and be on call at some
point if management decides to put me on call. We had it working great from my
home Windows 7 computer to my work windows XP computer. I now have a new
Windows 7 computer and we cannot get it to work. We are using a cisco vpn.
When I try to log into my work computer from home it crashes my work computer.
I have been working with tech support and they said it works with other windows
7 computers. Does anyone know what the progblem could be and how to solve it?
You would think it should work better from Windows 7 to Windows 7. I have
tried with both the latest JAWS 12 and JAWS 11.
