why should I change an application because of one or a couple other users, that's like the dude out here that insisted that we change our clients to plain text instead of html, because it gave him a problem, while his bloody plain text messages gave all of us using outlook in the standard set up a bunch of garbage on the screen, excuse me but that's out of line, way out of line!

Hi, On most technical mailing lists the standard is bottom or inline posting. Since most quoters use "greater than" as the quote character, I think a good solution could be worked out by scripting your mail client or your screen reader with a "don't read quoted text" option. --Jim ----- Original Message ----- From: Jamal Mazrui <empower@xxxxxxxxx> To: <programmingblind@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, April 17, 2008 2:48 PM Subject: Re: Please place responses at the beginning of your email.Re: WhichLinux + screen reader to choose?I second this request. I realize that sighted participants in list discussions often use in-line quoting, but despite my efforts to adapt to it, I have found it highly inefficient for me as a screen reader user. When I have been following a message thread, it is annoying to have to hear repetitions of previous correspondence before getting to new material -- enough so that I reach a point of deleting messages not directed specifically to me if I discover the writer consistently practices this style of email. I know the intent is not negative, but the reality is that it presents significant usability problems for blind people with today's email and screen reader technologies -- at least the ones with which with I'm familiar.
