Actually yes, it's supposed to poison spam harvesting data bases. The
spam harvesters go after signature texts in an automated fashion and
they specifically grab any whole string containing an (@) character in
it. On previous messages before I was doing this, the spam harvesting
software was grabbing the (<) and (>) signs normally used to wrap a
signature and sending email to me with those wrapper characters still
intact. Rot47 since you ask is an extension of rot13 that covers all 94
printable characters but does not encode or decode the (@) character
leaving that intact.

Seriously?
oh, and what is the string of characters at the end of your mail? Is it
supposed to do something?

I forget the name, but Microsoft also makes what it views as a
competitor to
cygwin, a little linux that runs on windows. Someone on program-l,
probably
Mark Long who was the microsoft employee, I believe was the one who
called
attention to it. But like a lot of things microsoft puts out, I forget
the
details.
Sorry I'm not more help. Maybe someone else knows what I'm talking
about.

Cygwin is what you want. It is virtually a full-fledged Linux. My
computer is Vista also and Cygwin runs fine. Jaws does nicely with it.
