Pressure from where?
Anyway, perhaps you are right that someone else will pick it up.  There is 
sanity in the universe, occasionally...
Could apple's decision perhaps be calculated to pressure java developers to 
code apps for the mac alone? i.e., rather than pound the gui libraries to 
work the same on mac and the rest of the universe, apple wants people to get 
accustomed to programming for the mac, which presumably has its own unique 
environment.
Just musing.
I'd rather code...*smile*

More likely the beginning of the end of Aple. This is a stupid move and
must have been prompted by some kind of pressure. Anyway, third-party
developers will come out with JRE's for the Apple. They probably see it
as an oporturnity.
