You need the Java Runtime Environment (JRE).

Speaking of Java, I have a program from someone (I forget now who it was),
that is meant to convert .mpc files to .mp3. It?s extension is that of
.JAR. My question is, that inside it, (I used 7Zip to extract it), there is
a .exe file with a few Dll?s to go along with it. How do I actually use the
program? For some odd reason, all the program does when the .exe is run is
terminate. What am I doing wrong? Do I need any editional software to run
this? Thanks.

Katherine

You might want to take a look at a package called Java Service wrapper. It
allows you to launch a java application as an executable or to even run it
as a Windows service. I have used it in both modes. One of the things I like
about the JSW is that you can configure it to trap the standard out and
standard err streams and write them to a file. You can even have JSW put a
date/time stamp on each console record. This is very helpful when attempting
to track down a problem which may have resulted from an unexpected runtime
exception. Just knowing the date/time stamp of exactly when the error
occured can help you better track down what was going on at the time.

        Hi,

I am very sure that I have a misunderstanding about this, so please
correct me. I was once under the impression that you couldn't make a Java
program that was an .exe Windows executable, but Eclipse is a Windows
executable. How does this work?

        Thanks.
