There is so much more you need to know. I have read Thinking in Java by Bruce 
Echel. Safari has quite a few Java books.

Yes.  Jamal's got some really gooed stuff on nonvisual development.
I'm messing around with Java myself and have found what he's got there
very useful.  If you like, I can send you the two txt files I have
found most useful for the at-a-glance approach.  It's actually a
pretty neat language.  You can start off writing gui apps from the
beginning.
