I think that's just a nasty marketing tactic.  You know, everyone says that 
nothing's free nowadays anyway.  True?

I usually uninstall everything. There are times when I miss the checkboxes (I 
got stuck with the Google toolbar, for example after installing Skype), and 
sometimes when it just gets installed for you, at which point I trash the app 
and the toolbar and go find something else. 
It seems like everything under the sun now is shipping with one toolbar or 
another though.
