I know this is a bit off topic, but does anyone know the answer to this? Please feel free to email me off list. Thanks, Bryan ----- Original Message ----- From: Joshua Loya To: Bryan Garaventa Sent: Friday, May 29, 2009 10:05 AM Subject: Ebook question: Please ask around So, here's my question, to any and all who may have an answer. I'm currently blind, which gives me very few options for purchasing commercially available ebooks. I am aware of resources such as NLS and Bookshare, but I am talking about books I can purchase, not get for free once someone has found it worth it to convert into a specialized format. Most of the formats that I can purchase, require me to sit at my computer in order to "read" the book I just purchased. There are programs out there that convert a lot of different ebook formats into .rtf, .html, and .txt files, but they don't convert books that have drm (digital rights management) protection, which most ebooks from big name publishing houses usually do. Does anybody know of a work around? I would love to purchase commercially available ebooks and magazines, and have the freedom to read them with my device of choice. Please let me know what you find out, and feel free to forwrd this email to someone you know that might be able to help. I only ask that you use discretion because what I am asking is in a legal gray area. I am not tpersonally interested in using this technology for unscrupulous purposes, but this type of technology could be used to steal books, if one was so inclined. __________ Information from ESET Smart Security, version of virus signature database 4116 (20090529) __________ The message was checked by ESET Smart Security. http://www.eset.com
