because web apps are installed in a single point and can be used from every
where?
Because customers and all enterprises are demanding increasingly for online
rather than offline solutions?
This days, I see regular gui applications only for small tasks or more
specialised tasks or developed as enterteiment at home by some begining
developers.
But in the market web is more valuable than regular guy even you entrust
your application with networking capabilities, because, even then you must
instal a regular application on every station you need to work with.
best regards.

I use web apps all day at work. Be leave me, I would take a regular GUI
over a web base. Screen readers don't handle them right and to many times
do you need to write scripts for them just to read.
Besides, They have to be installed just like a regular app. So why not cut
out the trash and write something that really works.
So web apps are ok, but if you ever used one on a production platform. You
will know what I mean.

I am using the designer as well, but knowing the size and location
property of the controls you can arange them ok with out scripts.
I know that a buton is 75 width and 25 high, so I put the other control
with 78 or 80 pixel from left for not overlap with the button and so on.
So by simply computing the positions.
But this is only my opinion and for only windows form designers, it does
not matter if it works or not.
In this days more applications are online so there are web applications.
In this case, the scripts are not helping.
Very few applications need windows forms interface.

I can agree with Tyler on this one.
You must of had some sight, because moving things around on the GUI ain't
fun. However, at least those scripts let you know where things are and if
overlapping, and lets not forget the properties for all those nice items,
not fun moving in there either.
Sure, you can code all that by hand in a text file, but that IDE makes it
a bit faster with those scripts for us blind..

how you say.
I never needed those scripts.
And I do dotnet programming for six years until now.
Tell me two features that are not accessible and those scripts make it
accessible.
And don't tell me about the gui designer because, the scripts work only
for windows gui designer and, how ever,
working as a gui designer for a blind is never something ok.
Because, with scripts or not, what you are designing there is from very
ugly and more!
Best regards.

visual studio isn't accessible out-of-the-box. the scripts make it a
lot more accessible, but it's still got some problems. On 11/12/2010

Subject: Beginner Programmer
Hi,
I'm new to the list, and I hope this kind of question is appropriate
for the list. I'm not a professional programmer. I never majored in
comp sci either, but I took 2 semesters of Java in college and one
semester of Java in graduate school. I also taught myself some web
programming like Php, Actionscript, and Mysql from reading books.
I've been writing Java with Eclipse, and I found it very accessible.
I found it fairly easy to write UI in Java, but I don't like how
Jaws interact with Java applications with virtual cursor. Also, I
have to refresh the screen every time the UI changes.
I want to adventure into C plus plus or C sharp, mainly because there
are far more libraries for music software in Cpp. I'm wondering what
is the best way to approach. I heard there's a script that allows
blind programmer to use visual studio, but I'm not sure where to get
it. Also, is visual studio the best way for blind programmer to
approach cpp or c sharp? I heard it takes long time to write UI in
cpp with notepad. I guess I want to find out what would be the best
way to start.
Thanks for all your help.
