Do we (not me) know the most valuable screen tips a sighted person gets? I am going to forward this to my Java teacher at my work who is good in Eclipse. He has a vested interest in this. He has M S which causes sight problems from time to time. Modify at will. And here's my first Eclipse question. In your instructions that you provided to Suzie that have landed in my e-mail box, you talk about a file called org.eclipse.ui.ide.prefs. Does that file also contain the color settings? Here's why I'm asking. If we agree upon using certain colors, we might be able to get JAWS to react to them, such as speaking the selections from the Content Assist window. We'd have to make a single file with the right stuff in it, then package it up with the JAWS scripts. I don't know what else that might break, though. The other way to do this is to give good instructions about how to set the colors manually to the right values. I already know that in Windows this is possible if you go to the right place. You can type in RGB values. I'd also want to keep in mind that we may want to simplify some color settings for people with low vision. Another thing. I, for one, don't want JAWS to react for every possible color, because they have colors for all kinds of stuff that would simply add too much verbalization. That's all for now. There are particular aspects that need expalining prior to using the functionality offered and since you have already compiled this list It would save me fingers a lot of abuse. Say thanks sai big big. First of all, I'm attaching an Excel 2007 spreadsheet of Eclipse keystrokes that I have sorted by area and function. Whomever would like, please add notes in the comments column about what you want me to try to do to help JAWS indicate stuff. No guarantees on my part because maybe JAWS can't do it, but I'll try. Return your version of the sheet to me. I will merge the comments and send back out to the group or groups. Let's just say that we will go through three iterations of this. This first one will be for me to get all comments. The second iteration will be for everyone to comment in e-mail. The third will be the final sheet of comments. After that, I will do my best to improve JAWS speaking. I'll probably ask a lot of Eclipse learning type questions along the way to try to understand Eclipse features. Thanks for your patience. I hope I can make this happen. Jim Jim Homme, Usability Services, Phone: 412-544-1810. Skype: jim.homme Internal recipients, Read my accessibility blog. Discuss accessibility here. Use key stroke CTRL + SHIFT + the letter B. Comments: Apparently the line that has the break point is high lighted in RED and some sort of other visual clue is visible on the left hand margin of the screen. I would like to have a particular sound played as a person scrolls over that given line. I would prefer the sound over a text message because the lines of code are spoken as I navigate and it would be cumbersome. Can you make a list that looks something like this? Feature to speak: name of feature. How to activate it: instructions. Notes: anything special, like what would annoy you if I made JAWS do it. My reason for asking is that I am just now getting past hello world. So I wouldn't have encountered much yet in the way of features to activate. I just installed Eclipse about a week ago. I'm pretty sure that I will be on some sort of Java certification path, though, so any information about what to learn would be good. I've gathered up a few web links so far. Fortunately, here, they have a subscription to Safari, which has books in HTML format. I saw an SCJP book, but not an SCJA book. Then there's also the Java Tutorial, which is huge. But narrowing this down would be really nice. So far I have called Oracle asking for accessibility information about training and the exams, but no positive response yet. Thanks. Is anyone interested in hearing JAWS say different things for the various colors like break point for the break point color, for example? Do you want to work with me to test a sound scheme? I have one that I created for another editor that plays piano notes at various indentation levels. What would you like JAWS to help you with for Eclipse that would make your coding easier. Please keep in mind that I'm just about totally new to Java, so I might not understand some things you are talking about. I can also do JAWS scripts if that's needed. Thanks.
