As for the Safari question: yes!  The rub is this: it depends on the 
subscription level.  Download tokens are awarded based on the level of 
subscription, and they can also be purchased.  You can download an entire 
book in PDF format provided you have a sufficient number of download tokens.

It is also possible to download a single chapter at a time from a book.  The

PDFs that are generated are quite accesible to JAWS in my experience.
