Jim H:

What is the purpose of the sounds scheme and how would it benefit a developer?

Subject: [program-java] Announcing Eclipse Scripts Beta 01

Hi,

Announcing Beta 01 of the Eclipse JAWS scripts.

Those of you who already use Eclipse know that it talks pretty well already,
but these scripts add some subtle help that I felt was needed in Eclipse. I'm
looking for feedback from Eclipse veterans, so that I can put features in the
scripts that would be most helpful to you as you work withit .

Activated out of the box is a sound scheme that plays musical notes at four
space intervals. I created the scheme with JAWS 11. I did some brief testing
with JAWS 12, and noticed that JAWS acts somewhat differently in the Eclipse
edit window than JAWS 11 does. This means that the sound scheme doesn't work
exactly the same. I may need to make a sound scheme for Eclipse that works with
JAWS 12 only. The scheme also plays sounds for various controls such as edit
fields, list boxes, buttons, and so on. Also, I believe that the scripts would
also work with versions of JAWS below 10, so welcome any feedback in that
regard.

This version of the scripts is a zip file. I hope to put up a self installing
executable soon.

If you would, please download the scripts and unpack them into your JAWS user
directory. They will place the sounds the sound scheme uses into your sounds
folder under your user folder. This saves you the step of having to use the
JAWS settings packager to open and import the scheme.

Also, if you would, please send comments to me about how well the scripts work
for you, or how they don't work, and what you'd like to see them do to make
your Eclipse work more efficient. Be aware that I may ask you how a feature in
Eclipse works to understand how to improve the scripts. You can also leave
comments at the page where the scripts come from.

Here's where to get them. http://www.nonvisualdevelopment.org/node/52.

Thanks in advance for your feedback, which will help improve the scripts. The
next upload of the scripts will include an HTML copy of the documentation and a
copy of the GNU Public License.

Thank you.

Jim
