[ppug] Re: speed

Hello Mal,

Last year when upgrading my computer the technician and I did a test in
his workshop to see if I needed extra ram. When he installed an Athalon
1200, a 20 meg hard disc and 256 ram we did a test on a particular system
which used to take me over 15 minutes on my old setup. With the new bits in
we got it down to around 13. After putting in an extra 256 the time went
down to 3 minutes 40 and yes, we repeated the experiment with the same
results - 256k ram, 13 + minutes - 512k, 3 + . He was amazed and so was I
- my old setup was based on a Duron 850 with 128k ram and a 9 meg hard dirive.

I might add that I use Win98 and have PP data going back to Jan. 2000 but
not a great deal else apart from the usual essentials - a very trim setup.

Good luck,

Bruce
