[ppug] Re: speed

Mal,
may be Windows 98. I can only do a year's testing at most before the
system comes to a grinding halt and completely freezes.
cheers

Subject: [PPUG] Re:speed

Hi List

I started this thread re speed a few days ago, because of speed. I have
now 640m up from 128m and my system test is still as slow as before.

I am now beginning to wonder about the size of the Price folder, 1.7gig
and 44000 objects. I am running win 98 with 733mhz 640 meg of ram (that's
pc133) 20 gig hd.

I would have thought upping 512 of ram would have done something.

I also find that occasionally while doing the results update at the end of
the month from cis, the price folder will freeze.

I have run every, known to me, software download to test for bugs etc I
have scanned and defragged, emptied temp files etc etc etc

I have spoken to Neale, we deleted my results and re downloaded.

I have been thru the price folder tvf prosetup etc deleting anything the
least bit odd etc.

I'm at my wits end, does anyone have a clue at all, or is anyone, with as
large a folder, with similar equipment, or worse, not having a problem?

I can't think of much else

Regards

Mal
