Correctomondo! Most of these viruses (correct term!) seize a victim's addressbook from Windoze' pathetic email programs, then send the virus to everyone in the list, using a false original address (often one of the names in the addressbook). This could be seen on AusRace recently when a copy of the virus was supposedly sent by 'JohnNB', who hasn't written to the group since he contracted cancer about a year ago! > This not only makes the origin harder to find but > causes a lot of people to get upset with some poor > bugger that is totally blameless. Absolutely! Although there ARE ways to backtrack the email that contains the virus, and I presume that Stebbo has done that to ascertain that the virus actually originated from one of the people using Internode? > Solution, get a good anit-virus program (even > Nortons if you so wish as it is better than > nothing), keep it up to date, run regular checks. > Simple as that.
