[ppi] [ppiindia] mengapa Al qoeda masih meneror seluruh dunia termasuk Arab Saudi??

sebenarnya. Karena Al qoeda tidak dapat bertanggungjawab atas=20
peneroran terhadap masyarakat dunia.

Masyarakat dunia selalu diberi kekuatan memberi aspirasi secara=20
damai.

Saudi Forces Hunt Militants After Attack=20

DAMMAM, Saudi Arabia - Suspected Islamic militants sprayed gunfire=20
inside two Saudi oil industry compounds on the Persian Gulf, killing=20
at least six people =97 including one American =97 before taking hostages=20
at a nearby expatriate housing complex.=20

Saudi security forces stormed the housing complex in search of the=20
militants and opened fire, though a police officer told The=20
Associated Press that all hostages had been freed and negotiations=20
were under way.=20

British and Filipino citizens and Saudi guards were reportedly among=20
those killed at the oil industry compounds, as well as a 10-year-old=20
Egyptian boy whose father worked there. There were reports the death=20
toll could reach 15.=20

It was the second deadly assault this month targeting the oil=20
industry in Saudi Arabia. Previous terror attacks in Saudi Arabia,=20
the world's biggest oil exporter, have been blamed on al-Qaida, which=20
has vowed to undermine the Saudi kingdom for its close ties to the=20
United States.=20

While the attacks were under way, a statement posted on an Islamic=20
Web site apparently referred to them under the title, "A gift to al-
Moqrin and his heroic brothers" =97 a reference to AbdulAziz al-Moqrin,=20
believed to lead al-Qaida operations on the Arabian Peninsula. The=20
text of the statement was deleted, however, and it was unclear if the=20
posting was a claim of responsibility.=20

Official Saudi statements said only that "militants" had "randomly=20
opened fire" and killed and wounded an unspecified number of people.=20
A Saudi security official, however, said the method of the attack=20
was "definitely inspired by al-Qaida."=20

The shooting rampage started Saturday morning in the Gulf city of=20
Khobar, about 60 miles east of Dammam in an eastern region 250 miles=20
northeast of Riyadh.=20

Guards at the oil industry compounds, which hold offices as well as=20
employee apartments, said four gunmen in military-style dress opened=20
fire, and then engaged in a shootout with Saudi security forces=20
before holing up inside the Oasis residential compound down the=20
street and taking hostages.=20

Saudi forces fired shots inside the Oasis, officials said, speaking=20
on condition of anonymity. At least 10 ambulances were seen outside=20
the compound, an upscale complex owned by a Saudi businessman.=20
Hundreds of policemen surrounded the Oasis, and helicopters hovered,=20
witnesses said.=20

At least one of the companies housed in the compounds was believed to=20
be Apicorp, or the Arab Petroleum Investment Corp., the investment=20
arm of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Companies.=20

The boy who was killed was the son of an Apicorp employee, said=20
Mahmoud Ouf, an Egyptian consular officer in Riyadh. Apicorp had no=20
immediate comment.=20

Other oil companies believed to be housed in the compounds included=20
Royal Dutch/Shell Group; Total SA; Lukoil Holdings of Russia; and=20
China Petroleum & Chemical Corp., or Sinopec.=20

Executives from those four companies said none of their employees was=20
killed or injured in the attacks, a Saudi oil industry official told=20
AP by telephone from Dhahran.=20

"They're all safe," Yahya Shinawi, in charge of operations the=20
eastern province branch of the Saudi Ministry of Petroleum and=20
Mineral Resources.=20

A report carried by the official Saudi Press Agency, attributed to an=20
unidentified senior Interior Ministry official, said four militants=20
fired randomly at a company and at a residential compound at about=20
7:30 a.m., then entered a residential compound "where the security=20
forces surrounded them in one of the buildings. They are currently=20
being dealt with."=20

Witnesses said they saw three men with Western features lying on the=20
ground covered with newspapers. Those bodies were taken away in=20
ambulances, they said.=20

The U.S. Embassy said one American was confirmed dead. The British=20
Foreign Office in London was investigating reports that a British=20
citizen also was killed. Philippines officials in Manila said they=20
were checking unconfirmed reports that three Filipinos were among the=20
dead.=20

The pan-Arab satellite television network Al-Arabiya showed the body=20
of a man, apparently shot dead, in the driver's seat of a car and the=20
burned-out frame of a sport utility vehicle. Bullet holes were=20
visible in other vehicles shown, some with windows smashed and blood=20
staining the seats.=20

Two security guards were believed to be dead, according to a Western=20
diplomat who spoke on condition of anonymity.=20

Inside the Oasis compound, a police officer who identified himself=20
only by his rank, a major, told AP there were no more hostages but=20
that authorities had surrounded the gunmen and "are negotiating=20
certain demands." He denied reports there was shooting there.=20

Lebanon's ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Ahmed Chammat, told AP that=20
five Lebanese hostages had been released. He did not know the=20
nationalities of others who might have been taken captive.=20

"The gunmen barged into the homes of the Lebanese at Oasis compound=20
and took them hostage," he said. "The gunmen began by attacking=20
Apicorp then they moved to the petroleum company. They were being=20
pursued by Saudi police, so they went into the (Oasis) compound and=20
took hostages."=20

Witnesses, all of whom spoke on condition they not be identified,=20
said the militants who apparently carried out the attack used a small=20
car and were accompanied by another sports utility vehicle.=20

Saudi Arabia launched a high-profile crackdown on terrorists after=20
attacks on Riyadh housing compounds in 2003, and claims to have=20
foiled dozens of terror plots in the kingdom.=20

The most recent attack targeted the offices of Houston-based ABB=20
Lummus Global Inc. in the western city of Yanbu on May 1, killing six=20
Westerners and a Saudi.=20

Saudi Arabia relies heavily on 6 million expatriate workers to run=20
its oil industry and other sectors. Many decided to leave, at least=20
temporarily, after the Yanbu attack. Then, U.S. Ambassador James C.=20
Oberwetter advised Americans to leave the country =97 a move that was=20
criticized by Saudi officials.=20

Fears of whether Saudi Arabia, the world's largest oil producer, can=20
protect its oil industry from terrorists were partly blamed for=20
recent oil price spikes to new highs.=20

In April, attackers bombed a security building in Riyadh, killing=20
five people and injuring 148 more.=20

A week ago, a German who worked as a chef for Saudi Arabia's national=20
airline was shot and killed by unknown assailants. Authorities are=20
investigating whether the attack was linked to terrorism.=20

In 1996 in Dhahran, an eastern city just outside Khobar, a truck=20
bombing killed 19 American military personnel at the Khobar Towers=20
barracks
