I have some questions too: How much have the US gained from Indonesian 
resources? How many other countries in the world have done so since the 
1960's by meddling in the Indonesian internal politics?

You must be kidding. Money for silence? What would American democracy 
say about that? Even Americans are critical on their government 
policies, do you really think US$468 Million will shut up the 
Indonesians? You would be stupid and cheap to have thought so.
Why don't you ask the people living in ghetto neighbourhoods in New 
York, Detroit and elsewhere in the US about the US$468 Million aid to 
Indonesia. See if they're happy about it, especially when they realize 
such aid funds would usually end up in the hands of a few rich 
Indonesians, so filthy rich even by American standards.
If you really love America, you should tell its government to spend the 
taxpayers money helping the American homeless instead of  giving the 
money to a foreign country for some political agenda, especially when 
that political agenda has to do with something like shutting up the 
Indonesians.
